Rubber Bands

Here’s something fun I’ve recently discovered. Rubber band looms. The one I have is called a “Rainbow Loom”. I chose this one, because out of all of the ones I looked at this one is the most versatile. Not only can I expand the length and width by adding a second loom (something you can do with other brand looms as well) but I can change my loom set up from offset pegs to in line pegs. I haven’t yet found another brand that allows that. I also like the clear pegs. It makes it easier for me to see wich rubber band I need to hook. Rubber band looms are actually considered childrens toys, but I’ve never let that stop me before. I have no problem letting my inner child play. With that being said here are a few things I’ve made. Video instructions for all of these things can be found on Youtube. Just type in Rainbow Loom and all sorts of fun projects will come up for you to do. ūüôā

Double Ended Crochet Hook

I’ve been teaching myself how to use a double ended crochet hook. I got a pattern book on ebay that uses this method. (crochenit Easy cuddly Critters by Carolyn Christmas) It’s out of print, but there were quite a few¬†available, so just keep checking if any of you are¬†interested. I’m making Bartholomew Bear. He’s turning out to be much larger than I thought he would. I hope I have enough yarn to finish him.

Knitting Goodies

I love it when my piggy bank gets full! It means I get to make a trip to the local coin star machine then shopping for crafting goodies. Today I was able to score TWO really¬†awesome¬†things with my piggy bank money. The first one is a 1970’s Mattel knitting machine with the pattern book. My main reason for wanting it is so I can make a knitted¬†version¬†(rather than the sewn version) of yo yo’s. The instructions for the knitting machine calls them “granny circles”. The other thing I got was the kb all-n-one loom. It can be a round loom, knitting board, and a rake knitter. I’ve wanted that thing since I first laid eyes on it, but just haven’t been able to because of the price and distance I would have to drive to get it. (after paying for the gas to get to hobby lobby I wouldn’t have enough money left to buy the loom!) but I was able to get it today because it was 40% off. *happy dance* So excited

EDIT: After I received the knitting machine the year that is printed on the bottom is 1974

What I forgot

Oh my goodness, I forgot to show you guys what I’ve done. Shame on me!¬†

First off I knit some clothes for my doll from the toys to knit book and I also knit my daughter a rabbit from the well dressed bunny pattern. Her’s looks quite a bit¬†different¬†from the one I made for my son. For her’s I made floppy ears, larger eyes, and the nose is satin stitch rather than the v shape.

Bunny

Here’s my latest. I knit him using the Well Dressed Bunny pattern. I was going to make the little clothes for him, but my son wanted him just the way he is.

Basic Doll

Finished knitting the Basic Doll pattern from the book Toys To Knit. I like how she turned out. I think she looks a little like those creatures from the movie Dark Crystal.

Latest Monster

Finished the monster I was working on for my daughter the other day.
