Been Arting

I haven’t been doing much yarn work. I got kinda disgusted with the pattern book I’ve been working out of for the tunishian crochet. It’s not very well written and it annoys me. So instead I’ve been working on my doodling. Or as I tell my husband when he asks what I’m doing. I’m arting. LOL!

Based on my youngest son’s nick name and personality.

Here’s a drawing I did yesterday in the car while I was waiting for the kids to get out of school. (the pencil part) then last night I did the inking. I used Copic markers. I really like them a lot. Very nice to work with. The kind I use are the Copic Sketch.  I’m working on getting more colors a little at a time. They are a little spendy and that’s reason I can only get a couple at a time instead of buying a set, but they are also refillable, and that saves money in the long run.

Latest Monster

Finished the monster I was working on for my daughter the other day.

About Monstered out!

Wow, I’m about monstered out! I’ve finished knitting a red and white one. I’m almost done knitting a green and white one and I still need to knit a green and red one. Not to mention assembling them all in time for Christmas to give to my kids. When the monsters are done, I’m going to take a knitting break. I’ve been thinking about embroidery. I haven’t done that in a long time. Maybe decorate some jeans with it. I’ve never done punch embroidery I’ll probably do that next. I got the punch needle I need off ebay for about $3.00 . I remember a really pretty piece that my Uncle Cassie made with punch embroidery. It was a big eagle on the back of a denim jacket. I wouldn’t want to use it on every thing, because the designs are so thick, but for certain things I think it would look real nice. Like maybe school themed sweat shirts for my kids. (similar to what’s on letter jackets) I also wouldn’t mind sewing some more dolls. There’s a friend of mine I’ve been wanting to make one for. She is older and doesn’t have any kids, but I think she would like it. She could sit it next to her computer and it could smile at her for me. 🙂

I just finished the monsters for my little cousin. I hope he likes them. I haven’t made him anything since he’s been born and I thought it was about time I did something to fix that. :-Image)Image

Mommy Monster

I finished the Mommy Monster and her baby for the baby shower. I also inserted a music button in the baby monsters tummy, so now he plays Brahms Lullaby. I would have liked it to be a different song, but I only had a choice of two. Hopefully the lady I’m giving it to will like it. Now I’m gonna make another one in boy colors for my cousins grand baby.

Knitted Monsters

I came across a knitting pattern designer that I just love. Her name is Rebecca Danger. My favorite are her monsters. She has a book published, I think it’s called the big book of knitted monsters. You can also purchase individual downloadable patterns at her etsy shop. Danger Crafts

So far I’ve knitted a couple of her monster “Chunk” I’ve been calling them desk monsters, because the first one I knitted to cheer up a friend who keeps it on top of her computer at work. Then my husband wanted one for HIS work as well, so desk monster seamed a good name. Now I’m working on a mom and baby monster. There going to be a gift for yet another baby shower. (I seam to be making a lot of stuff for baby showers lately)

Here are the Desk Monsters I made. They are both identical patterns, but the smaller one was made using fingering weight yarn and US size 1 1/2 sock needles. The larger one was made from worsted weight yarn and US size 4 needles.
