Been Arting

I haven’t been doing much yarn work. I got kinda disgusted with the pattern book I’ve been working out of for the tunishian crochet. It’s not very well written and it annoys me. So instead I’ve been working on my doodling. Or as I tell my husband when he asks what I’m doing. I’m arting. LOL!

Based on my youngest son’s nick name and personality.

Here’s a drawing I did yesterday in the car while I was waiting for the kids to get out of school. (the pencil part) then last night I did the inking. I used Copic markers. I really like them a lot. Very nice to work with. The kind I use are the Copic Sketch.  I’m working on getting more colors a little at a time. They are a little spendy and that’s reason I can only get a couple at a time instead of buying a set, but they are also refillable, and that saves money in the long run.

Double Ended Crochet Hook

I’ve been teaching myself how to use a double ended crochet hook. I got a pattern book on ebay that uses this method. (crochenit Easy cuddly Critters by Carolyn Christmas) It’s out of print, but there were quite a few available, so just keep checking if any of you are interested. I’m making Bartholomew Bear. He’s turning out to be much larger than I thought he would. I hope I have enough yarn to finish him.

I came across this today and just had to share. Such a cool idea.

Basic Shawl

Image

I couldn’t find a loom pattern for the type of shawl I wanted, so I’m just winging it. I’m making a basic rectangle shawl. I may or may not add pockets to it when I’m done. Not sure at this point. How I’m doing it is… I have my Martha Stewart loom set to large gauge (the pink pegs) 64 pegs. Using one strand of Bernat Soft Boucle Knitting flat. e-wrap cast on. purl one row. e-wrap stitch the next row. repeat those two rows until desired length. Warning! If you use this yarn, because of the way this yarn is made, you need to knit very loosely or your yarn WILL break.

What I forgot

Oh my goodness, I forgot to show you guys what I’ve done. Shame on me!

First off I knit some clothes for my doll from the toys to knit book and I also knit my daughter a rabbit from the well dressed bunny pattern. Her’s looks quite a bit different from the one I made for my son. For her’s I made floppy ears, larger eyes, and the nose is satin stitch rather than the v shape.

Punch Embroidery A Work In Progress

I’m working on another punch embroidery project and I thought I would let you see what a work in progress looks like. To me it looks like I’m messing up, but I’m not. It doesn’t look good until it’s completed, especially little detail stuff. like the flowers on the puppies ears. as you can see when you look at the front of the work, until the color is added, the black outline just looks like a black blob. Sooo… If your just starting out with punch embroidery and your work looks like this. It’s going to be ok. Just keep going. Oh, and to keep the edge from fraying the way mine did, just add a little tape. I knew that, but I misplaced my tape!
