Posts from the ‘Sewing’ Category

I’m in the mood to sew, so I’m going to try my hand at pyramid pouches. I don’t know why. I don’t really have a NEED for them. They just look interesting to me and I wanted to make some. LOL! I’m that way sometimes.

Girly Pad Bag

Here’s the girly pad bag I made last night.
It’s 10  inches wide and 5 inches high. I sewed in a recycled zipper to close it. (I’m always saving buttons and zippers off of things)
It’s just the right size to hold four glad rags pads or three of my longer all-in-one pads. (my all-in-one pads are approximately ten inches  long)

Cloth Pads 4 me

I think I mentioned that there was a tragic laundry accident that damaged allmost all my pads.
Now I’m trying to replace them. So far I’ve made three of my all in one design, (They are folded into thirds, with a water proof layer, and wrap around tabs. ) and four Glad Rags style pads. I also ordered the Personal Things pattern.  I’ll be making some of those when it gets here.
Here’s a picture of the ones I have finished.  Isn’t the table cloth material with the black ants funny! Talk about having ants in your pants. LOL!

Another little outfit

I finished another little Barbie outfit for my niece Saturday night.

Matching Skirt

I felt like doing some more sewing this morning so I made a matching skirt for the top I already made.

Rice Bag

I’ve been having a lot of joint pain lately, due to arthritis. It’s making it uncomfortable for me to do my arts and crafts. I made a post about it on the e-tatters group, and someone suggested making a rice bag to use as a hot pack. I had actually heard of this before, but for some reason I never made one.
Now I’m trying to decide what the best design would be. Knowing my family the way I do, anything I make is going to get dirty, so my rice bag needs to have a washable cover. I’m going to need some way to open and close it, so I can take to rice out before I wash it. (rice in the washing machine wouldn’t be a very good idea. LOL!) It needs to be something that wont come open easily, because I don’t want rice spilling out while the bag is being used. Also, it needs to be safe to use in the microwave, since that’s how you heat the rice up to use it as a hot pack.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Ok, after some very good suggestions, I’ve decided to make it like a pillow. with the bag being made out of plane cotton material, and then I’m going to use a flannel pillow case for it.

They Arrived

Well I got a very nice e-mail from the lady who bought my pads. She seemed very happy with the looks of them and is excited to try them out. I’m so glad. That makes me feel good.
I used the money I made from selling the pads to buy a sock knitting loom. I’ve wanted one for a while, but normally I’m very hesitant to spend more than a few dollars on my self, but since this was money I earned sewing, I decided it would be ok to spend it on something I wanted. It was actually my husbands idea that if I earned money selling the things I make, that I could use it for fun stuff for me and the kids. Of course the first thing I’m going to make on the loom is a pare of socks for him. LOL!
