Clover Soft Touch Crochet Hooks

I got a fantastic price on them and even got free shipping.

The reason I got them is because my arthritis has been bothering me so much lately and I’ve heard the the soft touch hooks helped with that. I’ve had a chance to use them (I made my sons blue monkey using one) so I thought I would give my review of them.

My first thought was. why do they call them soft touch? I was expecting a rubberized handle, but it’s not. The handle is made of a lightly textured hard plastic.

I found them extremely comfortable to hold and work with. They are light weight and they don’t get as cold as aluminum crochet hooks without the handle. That’s pretty nice for my arthritic joints. So I’m not in the slightest bit disappointed in them, just not really understanding the name "soft touch".

Something I wasn’t expecting is how nice the hook part is. I have been using a boyd crochet hook to make the monkeys with and I was having a lot of problems with my hook catching as I was pulling stitches through. I would have to slow down and be a lot more careful to keep it from happening. I wasn’t having that problem with the clover hooks though. It was so nice. I was able to complete the monkey I made with the clover hook in half the time it took me to finish the other two with the boyd hook, and that’s saying something, because I learned how to crochet using boyd hooks and I’ve been using them every since I was four years old. So I think I know what I’m doing. I have couple susan bates hooks that don’t catch as often as my boyd, but they don’t have the comfy handle the soft touch hooks have.

Well, I guess that’s my two cents. If your a crocheter, I definitely recommend getting one of these to try out for your self.

Finished Three Monkeys

I’ve finished the second monkey for my nephews and I even finished a third monkey for my five year old! I only have one more to go. (for my other son)

I had a couple of crazy experances while I was crocheting the brown monkey. Here’s a link to the post I made on my yahoo 360 page that tells what happened if you are intrested.

Second Monkey

I almost have a second monkey finished. I only need to finish the arms.
I’ve been getting a lot of strange looks while I’ve been crocheting monkey body parts. I can’t imagine what they think I am making. LOL

Sick

Well, I’m sick. What does that mean? It means I feel awfule, but that I also have more time to knit and crochet, because when I feel this bad, that’s about all I have the energy to do. So for a while I’m going to work on some unfinished projects. Maybe I’ll even get a few done.
