More knitting to do

I completed six items for my friend, but she was in such a hurry she forgot to pick them up. I’m hesitant to do any more until she sees the ones I’ve already done, because I want to make sure that’s what she wants. As soon as she gets them and sees them I’ll start on the rest of them. In the mean time I’m finishing my daughters socks, and yesterday a lady from church offered me some of her hand raised ground beef (really good stuff with no chemicals or preservatives or additives of any kind) I of course said yes please. Then I asked her what I could give her for it. She was just going to give it to me, but I wanted to give her something in return if she would let me. I told her I could knit and crochet pretty well and would she be interested in something like that. The idea seamed to make her happy and she said she would like a pare of socks. (she used to knit socks, but for some reason probably lack of time, she doesnt do it any more) She said she would like a purple pare. I told her I would see what I could do. (I’m not sure if I’ll be able to find that color locally in the yarn I use) Her second choice was blue and I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to get that so long as it’s not sold out. (I won’t be able to get it until next Sunday though  )
I also have plans to make my MIL a new pare of socks because when I made her last pare (last year) I really didn’t have much to choose from as far as yarn went  and I wasn’t very happy with what I ended up with. (she still loved them though  , but I would like to make her some out of something nicer) Sooooo I have about a months worth of projects lined up for me.

busy busy

I haven’t been on line in a couple of days. I’ve been VERY busy crocheting doll dresses. (like the white one I made for my daughters doll last year for Christmas) and knitting little sweaters. (like the one I made for the little teddy bear I knitted)
A sweet and wonderful woman I know has asked me to make them for her to give as gifts to her family and friends who are going to the Temple this week. Going to the Temple is something very special, and so she wanted to give them something to remember there time there, and since temple clothing is solid white, the little dresses and sweaters I’m making are solid white. (I thought it was a sweet idea)
I’ve been crocheting like mad every since she asked, but I had forgotten how LONG it takes me to make just one of the little dresses. Thank goodness she said she could give some of them later. It takes me almost a full day just to make one dress, so I would never be able to have eight done by tomorrow!
I was so excited when she asked me to make them though. This lady and her family mean so much to me and to be given the opportunity to do this for her made me VERY happy.

Learning to use DPN’s

My DPNs from Knitpicks got here and I’ve started some rainbow socks on them. I’m finding them a little awkward to work with and I keep poking my self with all those points. LOL! I feel my self getting more comfortable with each row though.
I’m teaching myself to use 5 DPN instead of just four because I’ve read were several people said they had an easier time using 5.  I might try using four on the next sock just so I can compare the two for myself.

Fingerless gloves and more loom knitted socks

Here’s the craft related things that have been going on in my life.
1.) I ordered a couple of sets of double pointed needles from knit picks. I’m really enjoying my options needles from knit picks,(the nickle plating is sooo nice) so when I decided I wanted to learn how to use double pointed needles I decided to get them from knit picks also. I checked on the shipping status last night, and it said they have made it all the way to Dallas, so I might be getting them today, but we will see. Dallas is notorious for completely loosing my stuff or keeping it for a week or more before delivering it to me.
2.) I started a pare of fingerless gloves. I’m using some of the yarn a very nice lady sent to me. I was one of the lucky people who received some from her when she decided to thin her yarn stash out. (I thought it was so nice of her to do that) I’ve posted a picture of my progress for you to see.
3.) I’ve also started another pare of loom knit socks. I’m using self striping yarn. This is the first time I’ve used any of that so I’m kinda excited to see how it turns out. I would have posted a picture of that to, but I haven’t gotten far enough yet for you to really see anything.
Oh ya, I forgot. I sewed the pocket on the sweater I made for my daughter, but I accidentally sewed it on to the BACK of the sweater. LOL!
I took it back off, but I was so disgusted with my self I haven’t tried sewing it back on.  I’ll post post pictures as soon as I do. I promise.
edit: I was informed by my 12 year old daughter that she doesn’t like the sweater I made for her and doesnt want to ware it. (Talk about a big waste of my time!) Keep in mind that before I knitted it I showed her the pattern and she said she wanted me to knit it, I also asked her about the yarn I used. (It was some her grandma had given me) I asked her if she liked the yarn, and would she want me to make her sweater out of it and she said YES! *Grrrrrr…..* I’m just sooooo aggravated!
Any way since she "Changed her mind about the sweater" I’m not going to bother to sew the pocket on it. I’ve posted a picture if you want to see the stylishly offensive sweater.
